Impact:
User input about the Bakery's website was much improved after the addition of the full menu and ordering options.
A previous user who had expressed that they would never use the Bakery's original website, stated that he would now utilize the Bakery's redesign website.
What I Learned:
It is crucial to truly understand, and then design around what the user's needs actually are, and not what I assume their needs might be.
Although the lack of menu and online ordering seemed like a fairly obvious pain point, the frustration involved in ordering specialized cake was a user pain point that was not revealed until reviewing the user research data.
It is also necessary to remind myself not to get attached to a design or solution. Doing so can limit my ability to properly explore pain points further through iterative usability testing.
Being open to change and evolution in designs and user needs can lead to better designs for the user and for the company
